We’re the Shop They Don’t Want You to Use — Here’s Why

If you’ve ever been in an accident, you’ve probably noticed how quickly your insurance company starts “recommending” certain auto body shops. They might call them preferred providers, in-network shops, or DRP partners. What they usually don’t tell you is that you have the legal right to choose any repair shop you want — and sometimes, the shop they don’t recommend is exactly the one you should use.
At Solon Collision, we’re proud to be one of those shops insurance companies don’t push you toward. Here’s why.
1. We Work for You — Not the Insurance Company
Many preferred shops operate under agreements with insurers to keep repair costs low. While that sounds good on paper, it can sometimes mean cutting corners — like skipping certain OEM-required steps, using cheaper parts, or rushing repairs.
At Solon Collision, we follow OEM repair procedures every single time. If the manufacturer says a part should be replaced, recalibrated, or tested, we do it — no exceptions. Your safety comes first.
2. We Refuse to Use Inferior Parts
Insurance companies often push for aftermarket or recycled parts to save money. We believe in using the right parts for your vehicle, which is often OEM. This ensures your car is restored to pre-accident condition, both in safety and appearance.
3. We Won’t Skip Critical Safety Calibrations
Modern vehicles rely on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking. These systems need precise calibrations after repairs — and skipping them could put you at serious risk.
We have the equipment and expertise to calibrate your safety systems in-house, so you leave knowing your vehicle is truly road-ready.
4. We Don’t Let Insurers Dictate Repair Times
Some shops are pressured to finish repairs faster than is safe just to meet insurance deadlines. We take the time needed to do the job right, even if that means pushing back against insurer demands.
5. You Always Know the Truth About Your Repairs
We’re transparent with our customers. If your insurance company refuses to cover certain OEM-required steps, we’ll show you exactly what they’re denying — so you can make an informed decision about your safety.
Your Car, Your Choice
Ohio law says you can choose any licensed body shop for your repairs — not just the one your insurance company recommends.
At Solon Collision, we believe in doing repairs the right way, not the cheapest way. That’s why some insurance companies don’t love working with us… but our customers do.
